A COMPARATIVE STUDY TO ASSESS THE LEVEL OF DEPRESSION, ANXIETY AND STRESS AMONG FERTILE AND INFERTILE COUPLES IN BAHAWALPUR CITY

The current research was sets out to identify, assess and compare the prevalence of depression, anxiety and stress among fertile and infertile couples living in Bahawalpur City. For this purpose, a sample of (N=300) couples were selected from infertility treatment centers in Bahawalpur. Out of which (n=150) were fertile and (n=150) were infertile couples. Their status of mental health was measured by using DASS-42 item scale. All the responses collected from the respondent were analyzed by using SPSS. The outcomes from the data depicted that level of depression, anxiety and stress was higher among infertile couples as compared with fertile couples. The gender wise comparison showed that both infertile men and women scored higher in depression, anxiety and stress as compared with fertile men and women. Hence, it concluded that the infertile couples suffering from severe mental health problems as compared with fertile couples.
